proyectoamil is pleased to invite you to the exhibition Ensayo para habitar una forma imposible by artist Josefina León Ausejo, curated by Mijail Mitrovic. This exhibition marks the artist’s second collaboration with proyectoamil, following her participation in the collaborative laboratory Haciendo Contexto VIII in 2025, and her first solo exhibition in Lima.
In this exhibition, the artist proposes a reflection on the processes of transformation of territory and architecture—and, with them, the ways of inhabiting and living—brought about by extractivism in Peru. Through a body of work that moves between sculpture, installation, video, and visual essay, Josefina approaches sites that have shifted from being landscapes to being shaped as spaces of exploitation and a strange kind of fiction.
In this process, the artist identifies a recurring form across diverse construction models, present in different social contexts and historical moments, and develops a speculation in which the utopian and the dystopian become intertwined.
Josefina León Ausejo holds a Master’s degree from the Institute Art Gender Nature (IAGN) in Basel. She is a visual artist and educator whose practice investigates architectures of crisis and post-natural landscapes. Her work explores the affective and ideological dimensions of space, imagining alternative geographies where the organic and the artificial intertwine in the construction of reality.
Mijail Mitrovic holds a PhD in Anthropology from PUCP. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Art and Design at the same university. His most recent book, Art, Ideology, and Nation in Peru, was published in 2025 by La Siniestra Ensayos. He has published articles and essays in various national and international journals.
