We invite you to join a conversation between Mijail Mitrovic, curator of the exhibition, artist Janine Soenens, and Josefina León Ausejo.
The artist proposes a reflection on the processes of transformation of territory and architecture — and, with them, of ways of inhabiting and living — brought about by extractivism in Peru. Through a group of works that move between sculpture, installation, video, and visual essay, Josefina approaches places that have shifted from landscape to spaces shaped by exploitation and a strange fiction.
Within this process, the artist identifies a recurring form across different construction models, present in diverse social spaces and historical moments, and develops a speculation in which the utopian and the dystopian merge.
