Initially envisaged as a project aimed at children, ‘Es todo gracias a ti’ refers to the relationship between consciousness and history with fragility and questioning as essential to human development. Shown for the first time in an art fair environment, the artist decided that the visitors, mostly adults, should interact in a dynamic of construction and destruction with the wooden blocks and other objects.
The different parts in the space awaken a natural desire to organize and incorporate personal or collective symbolic patterns. Each piece suggests a “series of historical patterns” such as domination, threat, fear, containment, alliance, confrontation and territoriality. It is the public that dismantles any established hierarchy while handling or “playing” with the shapes. Despite recognizable elements becoming immediately noticeable, surprises are essential to this “game” where, as stated by the artist, the combinations “are not intended to predetermine a type of association.”
