
Ian Tevo is a Peruvian visual artist with years of experience in the press. He currently developes artistic projects as part of a personal need where he expresses a side of his personality with an anthropological point of view, which questions certain aspects of the relationship of men with masculinity and eroticism with transgression and feelings.
He is studying Visual Project Management and Photography at the Centro de la Imagen, Lima. In 2019, he participated in the Documentary Filmmaking Workshop at the International School of Film and TV, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. He has also participated in the Documentary Photography Workshop with Victor Blue and Kirsten Luce in Antigua, Guatemala (2014) and in the Documentary Essay Workshop with Michael Robinson Chavez, a Los Angeles Times photographer (2013). Between 2008 and 2011 he studied to become a Professional Technician in Photography at the Centro de la Imagen, Lima.
His first solo show entitled Mercenario I (2021) was presented at Espacio Laboratorio gallery in Lima and he has participated in several group exhibitions. Some awards and distinctions include being selected artist for Der Greif N° 12, Edited by Broomberg & Chanarin (2019); honorable mention at the 5th National Photography Salon of ICPNA, Lima (2017); nominated for Masterclass World Press Photo (2015); Fellow at Foundry Photojournalism, Guatemala (2014), among others.
Ian is also developing his first feature film, titled “The European Dream”, which narrates the migration to the Old Continent of Latin American LGTB sex workers. This project was a finalist for the Pulitzer Center Travel Grant Persephone Miel in 2017 and 2018.
