proyectoamil is pleased to invite you to the exhibition HACIENDO CONTEXTO VIII. Organized by proyectoamil, Martin Gustavsson, and Rodrigo Gómez Olivos, the exhibition will present the results of the contemporary art laboratory in Lima, titled The Divine Violet: Art in Dystopian Times.
For this eighth edition of HACIENDO CONTEXTO, we take on the challenge of creating art in a present and future marked by dystopia. How can artists respond to the rapid degradation of nature and the increasing demands of a technological society that often behaves like a small god?
Peruvian artist and writer Jorge Eduardo Eielson offers answers to these questions through his work, exploring themes such as exile, autobiography, poetry, and the sea. His novel Primera muerte de María transports us to a dystopian Lima, a city devastated by violence, marginalization, and overpopulation.
This year, the selected artists are Adriana Tapia, Alejandro Mego, corticoide a, Isaac Ernesto, Josefina León Ausejo, and Patricia Mendoza. Over the past few weeks, six ambitious and innovative projects have been developed, each uniquely channeling Eielson’s work. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to collaborate with them.
We are excited to share with you the participation of our guest artist, Frau Diamanda, who will present a DJ set. Additionally, the Mexican collective, colectivo amasijo will host a culinary activation, exploring corn as a metaphor for migration, diversity, and gender.
