Thanks to funding from the Mellon Foundation, managed by the Just Futures program at the University of Pennsylvania, artist Tania Bruguera’s project Accelerated Free Fall (AFF), curated by Joselyne Contreras Cerda, connects art with the financial market through the donation of an artwork linked to an economic investment.
The project aims to provoke reflection on the relationship between art and the financial system, ensuring both the artwork’s presence in artistic spaces and sustainable support for local artistic production. Bruguera has shifted her performative practice from the individual body to the institution, using money as a link between issuers and recipients. Rather than allocating the funds to her work, she decided to transfer them to proyectoamil, which will manage and invest them in the stock market, reinforcing the impact on artistic communities.
