proyectoamil is pleased to invite you to the public presentation of HACIENDO CONTEXTO IV.

Organized by Martin Gustavsson and Rodrigo Gómez Olivos, the virtual exhibition on the specially created website presents the results of the collaborative laboratory of contemporary art in which seven Peruvian artists participated. For this event, we will have the participation of two guest curators, Miguel López and Florencia Portocarrero, who will dialogue with the organizers and artists about their work and the complexity of how to see the world in the current context. The website will also include archive material from previous editions of the laboratory.

The fourth edition of HACIENDO CONTEXTO had to adapt to the difficult situation we are living in and reinvent itself to work collectively, but remotely, with the selected artists. Pop Violence and the Costumbrismo of Pancho Fierro was the year’s version of the laboratory. It proposes an analysis of current political violence in South America through popular culture and the archetypes present in Pancho Fierro’s watercolors. In addition to this discussion was the debate on how to rethink art production from isolation.
