proyectoamil invites you to the opening of the exhibition Capitaloceno on June 13, 2026, at 17h at our space in Barranco.
The collective exhibition Capitaloceno brings together works by more than 30 Peruvian and international artists around a central question: how do contemporary economic, technological, and environmental systems influence the way we live, think, and relate to the world?
The term “Capitalocene” suggests that the current geological era is not defined solely by human activity in the abstract, but by a specific way of organizing life: that of global capitalism, with its logics of extraction, production, and consumption. From this perspective, the exhibition explores how these dynamics transform not only the physical environment, but also social relations, value systems, and the way we perceive reality.
Capitaloceno emerged from a series of conversations held over the course of more than a year with different artificial intelligence systems. Rather than using AI as a tool for production, the project incorporated it as an interlocutor: a space for dialogue and reflection that forms part of the same technological context the exhibition seeks to critically examine.
Through a range of media, Capitaloceno addresses themes such as automation, environmental crisis, and human singularity, as well as values that seem to occupy an increasingly fragile place in contemporary societies: empathy, gratitude, humility, and altruism.
The exhibition opens a dialogue between different generations, geographies, and artistic practices, proposing art as a space from which to rethink our relationship with technology, the environment, and contemporary forms of life.
