Sara Flores is one of the foremost contemporary artists emerging from the Amazonian basin and a member of the Shipibo-Konibo-Xetebo Nation. Her exhibition at proyectoamil—previously presented at the Museo de Arte de Lima—is based on a series of kené designs painted with natural dyes, conceived as a proposal for the creation of a flag representing her people.
León Ferrari was an Argentine artist known for making bold artworks that criticized religion, war, and political power. He is considered one of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century. The Musicians, to be presented at proyectoamil, is one of his early sculptures in which he explores abstract shapes and drawing in space. The figures look like they are moving and vibrating, almost like sound waves, giving the sculpture a sense of rhythm and energy.
Tania Candiani is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the relationships between language, sound, technology, history, and memory, combining visual art, sound art, audiovisual media, and documentary research. At proyectoamil, we will present a three-channel video installation titled Pulso [Pulse], which documents a large-scale participatory performance she organized in 2016 in Mexico City.
colectivo amasijo is a Mexican collective of women from diverse backgrounds who believe in the power of collective cooking to care for the environment, relationships, and personal well-being. Inspired by nature’s cycles, they challenge scarcity culture and promote regeneration. Their practice highlights the deep connection between culture and land, understanding food as a living network of relationships.
