Wynnie Mynerva (Lima, 1992) lives and works in Lima. They studied Art History at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and later Painting at the Escuela Nacional Autónoma de Bellas Artes. Their work explores an aesthetic akin to pornography, but from a perspective that reclaims and celebrates feminine pleasure—breaking with the historically dominant male gaze in the representation of eroticism.

In the paintings presented here, the artist explores the woman’s capacity to be the protagonist of her own sexual universe—free from guilt or inhibition. At the same time, Mynerva generates the image of a feminine body that is monstrous and fragmented in its eroticism—a critical commentary on its objectification in the media.
