proyectoamil is pleased to invite you to the presentation of Impermanent Sculpture, a book published after the solo exhibition of Rita Ponce de León at proyectoamil in 2017.

As part of the presentation, we will have an experience through the movement of our bodies guided by Rita Ponce de León and Joelle Gruenberg. The idea is to have a common experience from which to weave the presentation of the book. The attendees and those of us presenting the book will have a time for conversation based on the confluence between what emerges from the participants and what Rita wishes to communicate to them. We suggest wearing comfortable clothes.

To wrap up, we will share with you details of the creation and editing process of the book from the perspective of Ralph Bauer, graphic designer; Joelle Gruenberg, dancer; Florencia Portocarrero, curator and Renzo Gianella, director of proyectoamil.

Impermanent Sculpture represents the first volume dedicated to the work of the Peruvian artist based in Mexico. Designed by vm& graphic studio, the publication reproduces the drawings and installations shown at the exhibition that were conceived by the artist in Yokohama, Japan, during a residency in which she deepened her butoh practice. The book includes a text by the artist and another by Peruvian poet Tilsa Otta, an essay by Mexican curator Daniel Garza Usabiaga, a poem by Japanese Mina Mizohata, collaborator of the Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio, and a conversation between curator Florencia Portocarrero, the artist and dancer Joelle Gruenberg.
