In the context of Botanical Readings: Erythroxylum coca, Proyecto AMIL and the artist Ximena Garrido-Lecca are pleased to invite you to the Coca Leaf Reading Series.
The series takes up the divinatory tradition of pre-Hispanic curanderismo –which neither the colonial nor the republican experience managed to eradicate – and will be led by a group of researchers from the Institute of Oriental Metaphysical Sciences – ICMO. After each reading, a group of students from the National Agrarian University of La Molina – UNALM, will record the coca leaves as a botanical herbaria. Although the anonymity of the participants will be preserved, the “reason for consultation” will be registered, so that it finally serves as the criterion for classification and ordering of the herbaria in a botanical cabinet that will grow throughout the exhibition.
The Coca Leaf Reading Series will take place regularly and for free, between 4 and 8pm, every Thursday and Saturday during the months the exhibition is open.
